Can I do this test myself at home? Do I not need help from a lab or healthcare professional?
Yes, you can do this test yourself at home or your workplace without any assistance from a lab or another healthcare professional. It is easy to use and safe.
How do I use the test?

The swab is causing sneezing. Is it normal?
It is common to experience some sneezing when the nasal swab is inserted into the nose.
In faqs for how do I interpret results?
Tests can be interpreted visually by observing for dark pink / red lines on the test cassette. Refer to the visual below. The Self-Check app also reads results automatically using your phone camera.

Please make sure to report positive results to ICMR using the Tata MD Self-Check app.
The ‘T’ band is faint. Is it a valid result? Does it mean mild infection?
Yes faint bands indicate valid result. If in doubt, make sure to use the Tata MD Self-check app. Make sure to read the result within 20 minutes of taking the test.
The band intensity does not indicate a mild or severe infection. A faint band may be observed even in patients with severe infection.
How do I download the app?
Download using the App store or Play Store, <download links>.
I am unable to find the app in App Store / Play Store?
- When searching on THE Play Store, avoid the use of term ‘COVID’. You may search for ‘Tata MD Self-check App’, or use the links provided in the response to the previous questions.

Results are invalid. What do I do?
Redo the test with a fresh unused kit
The kit is damaged / contents are missing. What do I do?
Do not use the kit and contact the pharmacy where you bought the kit from. Also, please write to us at covidselftest@tatamd.com <or WhatsApp number>
The app is not working. What do I do?
Level 1- Close the app and start again
Level 2- Uninstall and reinstall
